BOMBS AWAY

Updated: Aug 9, 2018

After enjoying a Sunday morning breakfast with friends, I stumbled across some markets down in Bondi. I’m not one to usually stop and browse, however this particular jacket caught my attention.

A 1980s, mint condition, unlabelled bomber jacket. I could see it being something I could wear with jeans, so parting ways with $40 was a no brainer. When I brought it home I knew I could easily work it in with the tailoring in my wardrobe. Bomber jackets are red hot now, and pairing a vintage piece with tailoring had me excited.

Wearing my newly acquired jacket, I completed the look with an olive knit, white sneakers and a pair of grey window-pane trousers from one of my suit collections. This created one of my favourite looks, relaxed tailoring. An ideal look to take you from café, to bar, to gallery.

Of course using just any suit pants in the laid-back space can quickly go wrong, however the window-pane is a bolder look that is generally viewed as casual. It’s easy to get carried away when you have a check pair of trousers on, but tone on tone khaki is a simple combination. Sometimes less is more. Interested in creating smart casual looks via contemporary bespoke suiting? Lets talk.
